It’s so wrong, but I can’t help it.   I want this beaded pouch from Anthropologie.

I love these tall, blocky sandals with the compressed sine-curve side design.    They’re in a light, matte, spring/summer color, and joyously dramatic!

Leather sandals, H&M, $99.

I love this comfy dress in t-shirt material.   It exists at the perfect (for me) intersection between comfort, informality, sensuality, and restraint.

Dress with Crossover Neckline, $35.90, ZARA.

I love leather jackets in spring!  And, it’s nice to see one in a tan color, as we move away from the blacks and greys of winter.    Nice styling with the hoodie, too.

Leather Biker Jacket with Zips, $239, ZARA.

I’m in love.    I generally don’t go for turquoise, and certainly not turquoise + silver, which often pushes into tacky faux-Southwestern U.S. fashion.    But I get one glance at the Ippolita “Rock Candy Lollipop” ring and I get my head turned.   I can’t look away.    I find the darker turquoise, with its veining, compelling, and gorgeous.

Runway inspiration - Colorblocking and piecing.
From the Delpozo Spring Ready to Wear 2014 show (Look 14).
I love colorblocking when it’s done in a modern (not bad 1980s) way.   I also like piecing (see the grey pieces sewn together to make up the top) when it doesn’t look like Grandma’s Parrot Applique With Doilies (see just about everything Anthropologie.)

I remember style guidebooks used to warn about pleating, but I say, throw all the guidebooks away.   Almost any technique can yield flattering, chic results if applied judiciously.    Pleated chiffon is billowy and romantic, but this maxi-dress doesn’t go overboard — it balances out the flowy with a serious navy-blue and contrasting summer-white details.

Pleated Sleeveless Chiffon Dress, Oasap.com, $25.90

I’m having a pop-art Andy Warhol kind of moment.    And this muscle tee is just the thing.    It’s nice to have casual-wear that’s an homage to a great media manipulator and art-world personality!

Muscle tee, Forever21, $13.80.

Just when I think I have enough leather, I realize — I could use a black leather dress.   I love the shape — just shy of body-con; this black leather shift dress skims the body and is nicely structured with well-placed seams.

Black leather shift dress, Mango, $189.99.

I think I’ve found my “meet my special someone for drinks” dress in this superbly detailed shift dress.    I use deep v-necklines very sparingly and judiciously, but in this case, it’s done so fabulously, I can’t resist.   The detailing about the waist and bodice of the dress is beautiful and subtle.  This isn’t just any little black dress.

Shift dress, $69.90, ZARA.
